Central Softball National Tournament Bound

Central College is heading back to Indianola as the Dutch make their 22nd NCAA Division III softball tournament appearance this week.

It’s the second straight NCAA berth for Central and the second consecutive year the Dutch begin tourney play at Indianola. Central played in Indianola for the Iowa Conference tournament over the weekend as well.

The 15th ranked Dutch will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, champions of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference on Thursday. Start times have not yet been announced.

The top seed in the regional is 8th ranked Linfield (Ore.) Linfield will meet the University of Chicago. In the lower half of the bracket, 14th ranked and host Simpson will meet St. Thomas of Minnesota while Fontbonne (Mo.) plays Illinois Wesleyan (30-14).

Iowa Conference rival Luther College, ranked 5th, will be the top seed in a regional at Whitewater, Wisconsin. KNIA/KRLS will provide live coverage of teh Dutch throughout the tournament on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com.
