The Knoxville City Council awarded a contract to Blommers Construction for the 2010 City Sidewalk Project at their meeting this week, despite the fact that they were not the lowest bid. City Manager Dick Schrad says the lowest bidder already has a contract with the city which is not yet completed, and they wish for the work to be completed in a timely manner.

The city received three bids for the project with Blommers amount being in the middle. Therefore, the council voted unanimously, with the exception of absent council member Carolyn Formanek, to award the bid to Blommers Construction from Pella for an amount of $103,445.
