Behind seven first-place finishes, the Central College men’s track and field team won its second straight Iowa Conference outdoor championship on Saturday, while the Dutch women’s team claimed third place. The Central men scored 210 points, well ahead of second place Wartburg, which scored 120 points. Conference co-MVPs Kurtis Brondyke and Ethan Miller scored 36.5 points apiece for Central, racking up three first-place finishes, a second, two thirds and a fourth-place finish between them. The outdoor conference title compliments the men’s indoor title from earlier this year, and is the 12th title in the past 20 years for the Central men.

The Central women’s track and field team finished with 109 point – 16 behind second-place Simpson College – while Wartburg College blew away the field for the team title with 241 points. The Dutch will have two more opportunities to try and get into the National Championship field, with the Central Last Chance Open tomorrow and Wednesday in Pella and the North Central Gregory Invitataional Thursday and Friday in Naperville, Illinois.
