The Pella and Knoxville boys soccer teams meet head-to-head this afternoon, with a bid in the state soccer tournament on the line. The Little Dutch edged the Panthers 2-0 in Knoxville during the regular season, but that should have little bearing on a match-up that not only carries bragging rights in Marion County, but will send one team on to the state tournament, and the other home for the summer. Little Dutch Head Coach Mark Solomon says he expects another tightly contested match, as says his guys will have to counter some of Knoxville’s key players.

“We’ve got a couple key players we’ve got to keep track of for Knoxville. They have some outstanding senior leadership with Dylan Schrader and Jason Ryan in the back – some very good players,” said Solomon. “I know they’re goalkeeper made First Team this year in conference, so it’s certainly going to be a challenge for us, but we think we’re up for it.”

The Knoxville boys are 11-6 entering tomorrow’s contest, while Pella is 11-4. The match will be played at noon at the Gene Van Wyk Soccer Complex in Pella.
