The Knoxville City Council approved the addition of part-time Advanced Care Life Support Personnel to the EMS at their meeting Monday. City Manager Dick Schrad says there has been a dramatic increase in the number of calls that the EMS has received over the past few months and the new paramedics will help alleviate some of the stress that the full-time staff is experiencing with the increase in calls. Schrad also says the increase in calls and services will off-set the cost of the part-time staff.
