The Central College men’s and women’s track and field squad has begun competition at the NCAA Division III championships, and several athletes for the Dutch are off to a noteworthy start. Sophomore Ethan Miller has already clinched All-America honors after finishing fourth in the long jump. Miller was just centimeters away from his first national title, but his leap of 23 feet 7.5 inches finished on the short end of a three-way tie for second.

Kurtis Brondyke is off to a strong start in the Decathlon, and leads the field through the first day, while Miller is in fourth. In the women’s multi-events, Jill Ziskovsky is in seventh place.

The Dutch men’s relay teams also performed well on day one, with both the 4×100 and 4×400 Meter Relay teams qualifying for the finals. The women’s 4×400 Meter Relay squad finished third in their heat, but fell just short of qualifying for the finals.

Central’s multi-sport athletes will be back in action today, and thrower Matt Graber will compete in the Shot Put. The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Championships continue through tomorrow evening.
