The Marion County ISU Extension Office has broke ground for a People’s Garden. The vegetable garden is located on the northwest corner of the extension office at 1445 Lake Drive in Knoxville. The garden’s design layout was developed by students in the Gardening 101 classes, who are also using the space for hands on experience while they learn planting techniques. Marion County Master Gardeners, with the help of area residents who wish to harvest vegetables for home use, will maintain the plot and any unclaimed produce will be donated to the local food bank at Helping Hands. To attend the final Gardening 101 class next Tuesday or volunteer at the garden call Karen Ackley at 842-2014.
