The Pella Christian girls soccer team saw their season end with a hard fought 2-1 overtime loss to Oskaloosa in the opening round of the Class 1A Regional Tournament.

Oskaloosa scored the games first goal at the 4:30 mark of the first half. The Eagles Karianne Bolt tied the game just 45 seconds later with a high shot over the Indian’s goalkeeper and the two teams entered halftime in a 1-1 tie. Despite some close calls and back and forth action, neither team could score in the second half forcing overtime. Oskaloosa scored the game winner just 2 minutes into the overtime period.

The Eagles outshot the Indians 15-8 and Shelby Sytsma led the Eagle defense with 21 defensive stops.

Eagle head coach Bill Collman was disappointed with the result but not with his team’s effort, saying they played hard and that’s all you can ask of a young team. He says they gained a lot of experience this season and made a lot of improvements and will carry that into next season.
