The Pella Christian softball team recovered from an early loss to win a pair of one-run games during a tournament at Southeast Warren on Saturday. The Lady Eagles were blanked 4-0 by Newton in their first game of the morning, with freshmen pitchers Amber Sneller and Shannon Fynaardt splitting time in the circle.

Pella Christian would come back strong in their second game, though, as Paige Blom hurled seven strong innings and held Woodbury Central scoreless in a 1-0 victory for the Lady Eagles in their second game.

Blom would again go the distance in PC’s final game of the tournament, but it was the bat of Sami Veenstra that changed the course of the game. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Van Meter, Veenstra slugged a two RBI single to give the Lady Eagles the go-ahead run in a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Pella Christian softball team is now 3-1 overall and plays next on Wednesday when they travel to Osceola to face Clarke.
