The Pella girls golf team has a chance to join their peers on the boys side as state tournament qualifiers today, when the Lady Dutch take to the course for the Class 3-A, Region 3 substate tournament. Pella Head Coach Bob Fessler says he hopes his girls can continue to card consistent scores like the ones that pulled them through the District Tournament at Honey Creek.

“I think the key really is doing what we were able to do [last] Monday, and that is be able to group our scores closely to stay in that range where we get four solid scores and no one blows up or shoots real high,” said Fessler. “If we can do that, I like our chances.”

One hurdle that the Lady Dutch golfers will have to again overcome is the absence of Brooke Fessler, who was injured in P.E. class and has been unable to play since before last week’s District meet. Coach Fessler adds that it will be a great advantage to his squad that they are hosting the Regional meet on their home course at Bos Landen. The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. this morning in Pella.
