After falling 2-1 in overtime against their last two non-conference foes, the Pella girls soccer team will close out the regular season tonight with its third consecutive non-conference opponent. The Lady Dutch will look to gain some postseason momentum with a strong performance against Dallas Center-Grimes; a team that Head Coach Sam Mate-Kodjo thinks they match up well against and plans to approach in a similar manner as other contests this season.

“I’m planning to play the way we’ve played all the time,” said Mate-Kodjo. “Keep them out of the goal and depend on our midfielders to give good balls to our forwards to do something with. We’ve got really good forwards that work very hard to get the ball, so I think if we control the midfield, we’ll be able to do well in the game.”

The Pella girls are 7-6 overall this season. The JV/Varsity doubleheader between the No. 6-ranked Lady Dutch and the No. 2-ranked Mustangs begins at 5:30 p.m. this evening at the Gene Van Wyk Soccer Complex in Pella.
