In a game that was eerily similar to last week’s overtime loss to Dowling Catholic, the Pella girls soccer team fell last night in another hard-fought non-conference match – this time on the road at Nevada. Like the Dowling match, Pella struck first on the scoreboard, as Hannah Vollmar punched in an Addison Smith pass in the 9th minute. Pella would hold on to that lead through intermission, before the Cubs would even the score at 1-1 in the second half.

Again, the Lady Dutch would find themselves tied at 1-1 at the end of intermission, and held that score through two overtime periods to force a shootout. Pella was unable to get a shot past the Nevada keeper, while the Cubs put three shots into the net, to secure the 2-1 win. Pella outshot Nevada 10-8 for the match, with each keeper credited with four saves.

The loss drops the Lady Dutch to 7-7 overall this season, headed into their final match of a year: a non-conference showdown with Class 1-A No.2-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes in Pella tomorrow.
