The Pella School Board was presented with a check from Alliant Energy at Monday night’s meeting. The check, in the amount of $13,820, was a rebate for energy-efficient improvements in the district’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Chris Wimmer, Director of Maintenance at Pella Community Schools, applied for the grant, which was presented by David Vollmar of Alliant Energy.

The Pella School Board also approved the application for a grant valued at over $200,000 for pre-school programming, took no action on the application for Iowa’s participation in “Race to the Top”, and received a staff presentation from the English Language Learners instructor, who reported that the program is currently serving 27 students who have 10 different dialects as their primary languages.
