This month’s Sprint Car 101, third Thursday series event at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum will be a salute to Ray Lee Goodwin. Goodwin is a 1999 inductee into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and won the 1968 Knoxville Nationals.

Museum Curator Tom Schmeh says, it’s only fitting in this year of the 50th annual Knoxville Sprint Car National Championships for us to take time to honor one of its past champions. Ray Lee Goodwin won the 1968 Knoxville Nationals over Jerry Blundy and the late Earl Wagner, respectively, and then went on to claim the 1972 International Motor Contest Association point championship.

May’s Sprint Car 101 event will be held on Thursday May 20th on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum at 7pm, it is free and open to the public.
