At approximately 4:00 PM Sunday a motorist driving down Newbold southeast of Knoxville ignored road closed signs to cross English Creek floodwaters.  The car was washed deeper into floodwaters.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says no one was injured in the incident, but that it is important to obey road closed signs because waters can fluctuate rapidly, and roadways may be damaged below the waters.  Fines can exceed $100 if signage is ignored.
