Today we celebrate some of the most influential men in our lives, our fathers. Each year, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in 55 countries around the world. In 1972 President Richard Nixon signed a law making Father’s Day a permanent national holiday here in the United States. That’s 58 years after Mother’s Day was officially recognized as a national holiday. Today, Father’s Day is celebrated in a wide variety of ways through gifts, outings and greeting cards.
