The Knoxville City Council accepted the pocket park naming committee’s recommendation at their meeting Monday. The committee, who voted 5-1 in favor of the name Brooks Garden at their final meeting, sent a recommendation to the council who voted unanimously, with the exception of absent councilman David Roozeboom, to approve the recommendation. In related news, park designer Harv Sprafka also addressed the council with a request to place a rock and plaque in the garden acknowledging the name and honorees, David and Stephanie Brooks. Sprafka says this will come at no cost to the city as it will be paid for by friends and family of the Brooks. The council approved the request and the park will be dedicated in July.
