Contested State Representative Race on Most Marion County Ballots

Voters in the Marion County area will be casting their ballots for a contested race for State Representative in Tuesday’s primary election. Incumbent Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella is facing challenger Marc Held – also of Pella – for the Republican nomination for the District 71 seat in the Iowa House of Representatives. Held also challenged Van Engelenhoven in 2008.

District 71 represents the majority of Marion County and the Monroe area in the Iowa House. The winner of Tuesday’s primary election will face Democratic candidate Pat Van Zante of Pella in November.
