Knoxville residents who order a pizza Wednesday could have a firefighter show up at their door with a box instead of your typical pizza delivery guy. Marion County Public Health, Knoxville Pizza Hut, Knoxville Fire Department, Safe Kids Iowa and State Farm Insurance are teaming up for a unique program to promote fire prevention. The first 10 delivery orders placed at the Knoxville Pizza Hut between 6 and 8pm have a chance to have a Knoxville firefighter and truck deliver their order. Homes have working smoke alarms in their residences will receive a free pizza voucher, while the first 10 without a working alarms will receive a free smoke detector. Diane Ellis from Marion County Public Health says the goal is to build awareness about the importance of smoke alarms and fire safety. Ellis says she’s proud of the partnership that has developed for the event, with everyone having the same goal.
