Due to the large amount of rainfall that has been received in Marion County the Goff Mine Reclamation Project field day, initially scheduled for this Wednesday has been postponed until Thursday July 22nd. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey will attend the event as part of his effort to visit all 99 counties in Iowa in 2010 to meet with citizens and discuss agriculture and the issues facing farmers in the state. The event will include brief presentations on coal mining and the history of the site followed by a tour of the construction so visitors can take a look at what is being accomplished. The Goff mine reclamation is located southeast of Knoxville at Oregon Drive and 170th Ave.
