Knoxville Driver’s Education students in Tom Grimm and Deb Bachman’s class received an interesting and exciting presentation this week. The Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department brought a used car, donated by Reed’s Automotive, to the parking lot behind the Knoxville High School Thursday morning and completely destroyed it with hydraulic rescue equipment for educational purposes. Student Samantha Rogers and a Knoxville EMT were placed inside the vehicle to show the students the process of breaking apart a vehicle in order to remove accident victims. Driver’s Education instructor Deb Bachman says the purpose of the presentation was to give the students an idea of what could happen if they are in an accident and remind them that there are skilled professionals who will come to the rescue and save their lives.
