According to the Marion County Sheriff’s office 45 year-old Gregory Eugene Simmons of Knoxville was arrested early this morning for attacking his wife. At approximately 11:30pm yesterday, Gregory asked her to drive him to a party, while in route in the 1500 block of 150th Place Gregory had Deborah stop the vehicle and assaulted her with a knife, causing cuts to her throat, arms and hands. Further investigation shows that Gregory also forced his wife to drive him to an area south of Marysville where he committed an unlawful sex act. At approximately 12:40 this morning the couple arrived at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office where Mr. Simmons stated he attacked his wife. She was transported by Knoxville Rescue to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics where she was treated and released. Knoxville Police officers secured Gregory, he was arrested and charged with kidnapping in the first degree, domestic abuse assault causing serious injury, sexual abuse in the second degree and obstruction of emergency communication. After his initial appearance this morning, Gregory is being held on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is schedule for June 22nd.
