A 2010 Central College graduate and Marion County resident was the recipient of an academic award in the education field. Heather Shives of Knoxville was given the Lee Collins Award for Excellence in Elementary Education, which is presented annually to students that demonstrate dedication and commitment to their studies. Shives is the daughter of Randy and Marcia Shives, and a graduate of Knoxville High School.
