Over 100 Marion County residents ran in this weekend’s Dam to Dam 20k road race in Des Moines. Despite rain at the start and for much of the race, nearly 6900 of the almost 8000 people registered still ran the popular road race.

28-year-old Darin Schuknecht of Pella was the top finisher from the area, crossing the finish line in 1:21:21 – good enough for 81st place overall. Runners representing the county included 61 participants from Pella, 34 runners from Knoxville, 10 from Pleasantville, 7 runners from Otley and 3 from Melcher-Dallas.

The 12.4 mile route runs from Saylorville Dam to Downtown Des Moines and is the largest 20k road race in America. A complete list of finishers of the 20k is available by clicking here [1].
