Pella Christian ended their three game skid with a 3-1 win at Des Moines Christian last night. Zack Zylstra got the win, pitching the distance allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five and walking four. Sam Denooy was 3-4 at the plate with a double and Jon Holwerda had a triple.

Today the Eagles and their cross town rivals Pella, take the Tulip City Rivalry on the road to Principal Park in Des Moines for an exhibition game. Pella won the first meeting this season at Pella and Eagles coach Brad Rolffs says they’d love to beat the Little Dutch, but today is more about having fun and just enjoying the game of baseball in a big time atmosphere. Pella High Baseball Coach Aaron Reasland says there are two elements of playing at Principal Park that stand out immediately one being the fact that it’s the field where the State Tournament is played, which is ultimately where they’d love to get to. As fun as the game should be for the teams playing, Pella High Head Coach Aaron Reasland hopes it is just as much fun for the fans that make the trip. He notes that fans buying a ticket for their game also get to stay and watch the Iowa Cubs in action at 7pm.

The Eagles are 13-4 on the season and 6-2 in the LHC while Pella is 6-6 overall and 5-4 in the LHC coming off a close loss to Newton Tuesday.

Today’s game will count on each team’s overall season record but will not count on their LHC record.
