Pella Corporation has been selected as one of fifty manufacturers from around the country to take part in a new program to increase awareness of energy efficient windows. The U.S. Department of Energy is emphasizing R-5 windows, which reduce energy loss and cut the amount energy needed to heat or cool a home. R-5 windows are named after the “R-value”, which rates a window’s resistance to heat transfer in or out of a structure.

Pella Corporation’s role in the Department of Energy program will be to coordinate higher volume R-5 window purchases among potential buyers and manufacturers, with a goal of reducing costs by buying in large quantities.
