The Knoxville Pocket Park Naming Committee met yesterday afternoon to discuss the future dedication of the park. Former Mayor and Park Designer Harv Sprafka, who submitted the initial request to the Knoxville City Council to name the park Brooks Garden after Dave and Stephanie Brooks, was in attendance to further explain the reason behind his request. Mayor Don Zoutte says after some discussion, the committee voted 5-1 to send a recommendation of calling the park “Brooks Garden” to the city council. The request cannot be submitted until at least 45 days after the initial naming recommendation, therefore the committee will submit the recommendation at the June 21st regular meeting.
