Members of 4-H groups from the Marion County area are invited to take part in a “practice-run” event of sorts to help them prepare for this summer’s county fair. Marion County Youth Coordinator Kim Davis tells KNIA/KRLS News that the event will include several activities – including extemporaneous reading, short educational presentations and working exhibits – which are intended to help 4-H’ers gain confidence in their public speaking abilities and practice being excited about their project.

Davis says it’s fun to see the kids improve as they grow up. She says there is great reward in watching a short presentation from a shy and nervous first grader evolve into a great presentation and confident speaker when that student is in high school. The free event is open to all area 4-H groups, and will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Pella and should finish around noon. The public is also invited to watch.
