Saturday’s win in the class 2A soccer sub state not only propelled Knoxville into its first state soccer tournament in school history, it also was the completion of a goal made by Coach Jon Smith several seasons ago. Smith has coached the Panthers for nearly ten years and when he arrived on the scene he made it a goal to make the state tournament. Knoxville has been to the sub state final seven of the last eight seasons, but was never able to make the state tournament until this past Saturday. Knoxville will play Dubuque Walhert Thursday afternoon at two-30 in Des Moines.
