A few Marion County farms will have some special, out of state visitors next week. Dan Dennison, owner of Dan-D Farms tells KNIA/KRLS news a group of youth group members from the Chicago area will be making their way to Marion County to learn where the food they eat comes from. The group plans to visit four different farms in the area. including Dan-D Farms, Blue Gate Farms, Dairy Air Farms and Coyote Run Farms, where they will be taught to pick corn, clean a dairy barn, hoe a garden and find out what it’s like to maintain a farm. After the work in the fields and barns the group will take the food they collected and use it to cook their meals at a local church. Dennison says it’s important for people to realize that food doesn’t just show up on the shelves at the stores and it takes a lot of work to provide healthy food for us to eat.
