Guests and employees of a Pella hotel were evacuated Tuesday morning, after a crew digging on the property cut a gas line, starting a small fire. The Pella Fire Department was on the scene at the Country Inn & Suites less than five minutes after the fire was reported at 9:02 a.m.  Upon arrival, firefighters found that the work crew had controlled the flare-up with fire extinguishers.

Around a dozen guests, along with hotel staff were evacuated.  There were no injuries associated with the fire, though a piece of trenching equipment was destroyed.  Pella Police assisted at the scene.
