[simage=3122,200,y,right] The South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency is offering Marion County residents another opportunity to dispose of household chemical waste for free. The household chemical collection allows residents to get rid of hazardous materials such as oil-based paints, common cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs and small batteries free of charge. The collection will take place today from 9am until noon at the Knoxville Street Shop, located at 700 North Roche Street.

Acceptable Materials:
Oil-based paints
Stains and varnishes
Common cleaners
Lawn and pool chemicals
Aerosols
Poisons
Small batteries
Fluorescent light bulbs
Sharps
Mercury thermometers and thermostats
Antifreeze

Unacceptable Items:
Medical wastes/drugs
Radioactive materials
Auto batteries
Motor oil
