The Goff Mine Reclamation Project field day that was originally scheduled for June 23rd and postponed due to wet conditions until Thursday has been rescheduled again. According to Randy Cooney, Project Coordinator of the Mines and Mineral Bureau of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the current conditions are too wet in order to allow easy access to the mine. The event has now been postponed until August 25th and Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey is still scheduled to attend the event which will include brief presentations on coal mining, historical facts about the site and a tour of the construction. The Goff mine reclamation is located southeast of Knoxville at Oregon Drive and 170th Ave.
