High Waters Prevent Repairs at Lake Red Rock

Though the water level at Lake Red Rock is slowly receding, the swollen lake has still prevented work on a handful of projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including the repair of a beach that was damaged by high waters in 2008.
John Holt with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Red Rock says that rains in June stopped work on repairs to the North Overlook Beach area, and much of the area was soon covered in water as the lake’s level rose. It is not known at this time when workers will be able to resume efforts to repair the beach.
As of 5:00 a.m. Saturday, the water elevation at Lake Red Rock was near 772.80 feet and dropping at a rate of roughly 10 inches per day. The normal conservation pool depth is 742 feet.
