The first locally-grown sweet corn of the summer arrived in Pella this past weekend. Kristi Pinegar and her family sell the popular summer delicacy from her front yard in the 900 block of Washington Street in Pella and have seen a heavy flow of customers in their first two days of operation.

Pinegar says she and her family have grown around five different varieties of sweet corn, and what is for sale each day varies on what was picked that morning. She says despite the rainy summer, this year’s crop has held up well, but is looking forward to hot and dry weather to help further along the remainder of the sweet corn and other produce that they grow.
