The Knoxville High School baseball team’s goal of becoming the class 3A state champions is still alive after their win against Independence this afternoon. The Panthers beat the Independence Mustangs 5-3 in the opening round of the state tournament and are now 25-9 on the season. Knoxville will face fourth seed Charles City (21-13) in round two Friday at noon at Principal Park in Des Moines.
