Lieutenant Governor nominee Kim Reynolds made a stop in Pella Tuesday afternoon as part of a frenzied campaign tour that will land her in 18 Iowa communities in a five-day span. The state senator from Osceola used the opportunity to inform the roughly 30 people in attendance more about her background and experience and why she and Republican gubernatorial candidate Terry Branstad feel they are the right choice for Iowans. Reynolds tells KNIA/KRLS News she’s seen a good turnout from potential voters on her tour, and says many of them have had the same questions.

“They continue to ask about the budget – the amount of spending that’s going on; government intrusion into their lives, [and] they talk about having the right to vote on the marriage amendment – that gets brought up,“ said Reynolds. “And just the unemployment [situation]; 115,000 Iowans are out of work, and that gets brought up at almost every stop that we make, talking about what we’re going to do to turn that around and really get this economy going again.”

Branstad’s candidacy announcement tour featured a stop in Pella, as did a tour introducing Reynolds as his running mate, and she says the area is important to their campaign.

“This is a special area and we want to be sure that we reach out to the people in Pella and Marion County and just visit with them, talk to them, and listen to what they have to say,” said Reynolds. “They’ve got great advice for us, and we love being here, so we’ll probably be back.”

The visit to Pella marked the third time this month that the Branstad/Reynolds campaign had made a stop in Marion County, and the fourth time in less than 30 days.
