[simage=3124,320,y,left] Tonight, seven talented young women will compete in this year’s Marion County Fair Queen contest. This year’s candidates include Knoxville High School’s Marissa Wilson, Lacy Stevenson and Callie Chambers along with Pleasantville High School’s Bronya Renfrow, Tassi Cook and Elizabeth Hoyt and Melcher-Dallas High School’s Cassie Ripperger.

According to contest coordinator Codi Prachar contest will consist of an individual and group interview, and on stage questions about their applications and current events.  The girls will be judged on their character, charm, poise and knowledge of Marion County.

The queen will receive a $500 scholarship and represent Marion County at local events and the Iowa State Fair. The 2010 Marion County Fair Queen will be crowned Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville with the competition beginning at 7pm.  The event is free and open to the public.
