Old Maid Rite building location in KnoxvilleCity crews demolished the old Maid Rite building on the east side of Knoxville Monday morning. The site will be transformed into a small park that serves as a welcome area to the city. A portion of the area at 1616 East Main Street will be converted into a rain garden and the site was chosen by the Plant a Wish project as the location of their Iowa tree as they continue on their goal to plant one native tree in each state.
