Only one interested party submitted a bid at last night’s meeting about the sale of the Trabert Center in Knoxville. Marion County Extension Office Council Member Craig Greene informed those present that the extension office would like to place the minimum bid of $100,000 for the building. Greene tells KNIA/KRLS news that the extension has been looking for additional space for their facilities for two to three years, and wanted to take a chance at this opportunity. He states that they expressed interest in the building prior to Wednesday’s meeting, but this was the first bid they have submitted.
If approved by the Knoxville School Board, Greene says the extension and Marion County 4-H would relocate all offices to the Trabert Center. The bid will now go before the school board at the August 9th meeting, where they will decide whether or not they feel the extension’s bid is sufficient. If approved, there will then be a public hearing in regards to sale of the building followed by action by the school board.
Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says the building will not change possession until after September 1st. In addition, a notice to given to potential bidders states that the property will be sold “as is” and the district makes no warranty of any kind. Also, items such as computers, wiring, telephone systems, loose equipment and furniture will be excluded from the sale.
