A night of fundamentally sound baseball paid big dividends for Pella last night, as the Little Dutch picked up a 6-3 non-conference baseball win at Saydel. Pella was tied with the Eagles 3-3 after two inning, but held their opponent scoreless for the remainder of the game, while tacking on important runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the win.

With a full week of games putting considerable strain on their pitching staff, the Little Dutch got a solid, complete-game pitching performance from Paul Anderson, who gave up just two earned runs on four hits, struck out one and walked four.

At the plate, Alan Pfadenhauer went 2-for-4 for Pella – including a double – and had two RBIs and scored a run. Ryan Lanke and Mark Frommelt also went 2-for-4 at the dish, while Brett Kingery went 1-for-2 with a double, scored two runs, had one RBI and walked twice.

Pella is now 9-9 overall entering tonight’s Little Hawkeye Conference Varsity doubleheader at home against South Tama.
