A summer favorite at the Pella Historical Village – the Dutch Day Camp – begins Monday and runs through this week. Lisa Jaarsma Zylstra started the camp in 1991 as a pre-teaching project for college, and is one of the camp’s instructors, along with James Uitermarkt. Zylstra says this year’s camp will focus on life and culture in the Netherlands, and will feature a variety of Dutch-themed activities – including crafts and games. Around 25 fifth or sixth grade boys and girls are enrolled in this year’s camp.
