The transition from one Athletic Director to the next is in progress at Pella Christian High School.

As we told you earlier, after four years serving as Athletic Director at Pella Christian High School, Verlan Nikkel has resigned effective at the end of the Summer sports season, and Brad Engbers, a 1985 Pella Christian graduate is the new Athletic Director effective this Fall. Nikkel says with his oldest son being a senior, and a health issue that popped up recently, he just decided it was time for him to step away and do something a little less stressful and free him up for more family time. He says he was able to build some strong relationships with thise he worked close with and will miss that part the moST.

He says with Engbers being a Pella Christian graduate, and he and his wife both originally being from this area, he’s confident the transition will go well.

Nikkel says he plans to still teach in the morning this school year and help with football, but will also be working a bit outside the school. As for the future after this year, he says he’ll just wait and see what develops
