Pella’s Union Street Players theatre organization will host their Second Annual Drama Camp later this summer. The camp features an active week of developing “playbuilding” skills and will feature sessions led by Union Street Players veteran Brystal Hopkins and Pella High School theater director Suzi Jones. Hopkins is working with the camp’s younger participants, and says the opportunity to share something new with the students makes it exciting for her.

“I love working with younger kids – especially on stage – because they tend to have less inhibition, and they are really fun to just explore theater and movement with,” says Hopkins. “Many of them have never been in a show before, or been on stage before, so all of these things are new and exciting to them.”

The camp is divided into sessions for kindergarten through fourth grade and fifth through eighth graders. The Union Street Players’ Drama Camp is running through Friday of this week at Pella Community Center.
