Pella football continues to progress well according to Coach Jay Mckinstrey.

Pella returns eight starters from last year’s state runner up team, mostly on defense and Mckinstrey says that will definitely be a strong point of their team this fall and is definitely progressing faster due to experience and a familiarity of the different schemes.

He says as is usually the case the offense takes a little more time to click, just due to timing issues such as handoffs and getting comfortable with receivers and pass routes , especially with a new quarterback, running back and some new receivers in the mix , but says they are coming along well.

He notes a couple things he has been very pleased with is their overall team speed and conditioning early on, and the excitement and attitudes of the kids and their willingness to learn and work hard. Pella will have their inter squad scrimmages this Friday night and will open the season next Friday at Newton.
