Iowa has experienced several rainy days in recent months, resulting in very wet conditions in fields and lawns in much of Marion County. Marion County ISU Extension Office Program Director Dale Miller we have almost surpassed the normal annual rainfall total in the past four months alone. Miller says that while many things are out of our control at this point due to the amount of precipitation we have received, it is important to continue to monitor crops and gardens for problems such as insect and disease problems. He says these issues can be treated if detected early enough through fungicides. Miller adds that it in this point in the season his biggest recommendation is to evaluate the current conditions and make note for next year.
