Demolition of homes included in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program has begun in Knoxville. Dilapidated homes at 514 West Montgomery, 309 North First Street and 1206 East Main have been demolished in the last week. Zoning Administrator Cindy Glick says things are off to a good start. A total of 21 homes are scheduled to be demolished as part of the program. The Knoxville City Council approved a resolution to the city’s agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Marion County at their meeting Monday stating that while they do not have the $160,000 initially promised to the organization on hand they plan to give Habitat that money as it comes in through the sale of a rehab house at 802 S. Patrick and other lots this fall.
