A scary scene unfolded Sunday morning on the west side of Pella, as a vehicle veered out of control across traffic and crashed into the front of a local automotive service center.  At approximately 8:35 a.m. Sunday, an eastbound vehicle on Washington Street crossed oncoming traffic and jumped the curb near West 6th Street, smashing through the service bay doors at West End Auto; causing an estimated $80,000 in combined damages.

Emergency responders said the driver of the vehicle had health issues, which played a role in the accident.  The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported by Pella Ambulance to Pella Regional Health Center with non life-threatening injuries.  Pella Police and Fire Department assisted at the scene.
