The Knoxville City Council is looking to make some changes to the city’s purchasing policy. The council has expressed interest in expanding the local business differential in order to increase the amount of purchases from Knoxville businesses. The current policy states that a local business that submits a bid within 5% of the lowest bid will receive preferential consideration. The board is looking to increase that to 10% and change the policy so that it includes all businesses that pay property taxes to Knoxville instead only those within city limits. City Manager Dick Schrad will be prepare a resolution stating these changes and submit it to the council for their approval at the August 16th meeting.
