Five candidates remain in the running as the Knoxville Police Department searches for its new police officer. Chief Losada says 22 applicants were invited to Thursdays testing, 17 showed up and after the physical fitness portion there were 11 candidates remaining. That afternoon the applicants were interviewed by current officers and the Civil Service Board. Chief Losada is now going through the process of examining the test scores, interview feedback and background history information to select who he believes is the best candidate for the department. Once the decision is made Losada says it will take approximately two more months of screening until the new officer’s first day in uniform.
